Burn ban issued for Jennings County

On recommendation from the Jennings County Fire Chief’s Association, Jennings County Commissioners have implemented a burn ban in Jennings County because of prolonged drought conditions and a lack of rain forecasted for the area. Jennings County is the 62nd Indiana county to implement a burn ban this summer.

This ban does not affect fireworks. However, consumers are urged to use caution with and maintain a water source close by to extinguish any small grass fires that may ignite from discarded firework material. Wetting the immediate area where fireworks will be set off is a good idea as well, according to Jennings County Emergency Management officials.
