Bartholomew County Sheriff Maj. Todd Noblitt identified the two children involved in the Taylorsville school bus accident this morning as Aiyanna Moffitt, 9, and her brother Brian Moffitt, 6. Both reside at 2503 W. Chaucer Drive in the Colony Park neighborhood in Taylorsville. Aiyanna Moffitt was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis where she is being treated. Her brother was treated and released from Columbus Regional Hospital for cuts and bruises.
The bus driver was identified as Dylan C. Graham, 23, Columbus, who was a substitute driver. He was not injured.
The bus involved in the accident was Bus 269, which is normally driven by Kim Fowler.
Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. Superintendent John Quick said it appeared that the bus had completed its stop, and was retracting its stop arm and about to leave when the two children ran out in front of the bus because they thought they had missed it.
Quick said Graham had been driving as a substitute for the school corporation since Thanksgiving without any issues.
