About 685 Bartholomew County REMC customers lost power at 5:25 p.m. Sunday following a car accident at 750E and 400S in Elizabethtown.

Two electrical poles were broken in the accident. Also, because the accident occurred close to a substation, a circuit was also brought down, creating the power outage, according to Marty Lasure, manager of public relations and member services for Bartholomew County REMC.

Power was redirected and restored in about an hour and a half, Lasure said.
