A break-in before dawn at the Harrison Lake Country Club resulted in the theft of cash and several hundred dollars in property damage to its golf pro shop, the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department said.
No suspects have been arrested at this point, but the sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation.
Deputies responded to an alarm at 4:57 a.m. Wednesday, and found that a group of burglars had made a forced entry into the building, said Maj. Todd Noblitt, chief deputy with the sheriff’s office.
He said investigators are studying DNA samples collected at the pro shop as well as other unspecified evidence.
A review of surveillance video at the pro shop showed several people gaining entry to the building, although Noblitt declined to say exactly how many individuals could be seen on the video or describe what they were wearing.
Deputies did a K-9 search of the area and checked the building but found no one, Noblitt said. The country club is at 588 S. Country Club Road on the west side of Columbus.
