Fourteen members of Columbus East High School's choir department are raising money for a trip to New York City to sing at Carnegie Hall.
In November, the group, with choir director Ken Hauan, plans to travel to New York to perform "Mass of the Children" with its composer, John Rutter.
Several fundraising events are planned to help students pay for the trip. East choir students will perform at the downtown Columbus Farmers Market from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturdays in June, July and August, when they will be accepting donations. The group also is seeking corporate sponsorships.
