City council president doing well after kidney transplant

Follow The Republic:

Columbus City Council President Dascal Bunch and his son were doing well after live-donor kidney transplant surgery this morning.

Dascal Bunch received a kidney from his 26-year-old son Jordan Bunch as part of a six-hour-long surgery at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Kylee Jones, Bunch's daughter, said the surgery went smoothly and her 59-year-old father and younger brother both were recovering well.

Doctors told the family that the kidney from Jordan Bunch was a good, healthy kidney, Jones said.

"They described it as a beautiful kidney," Jones said.
