Volunteers with six Columbus churches say they will demonstrate God’s love in a range of home improvement projects beginning Thursday through June 21. Much of the work, from painting to cleaning out garages, is beyond the capabilities of the residents, according to organizers. One person getting help is a local resident recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Clean Up Columbus is a joint effort among St. Peter’s Lutheran, Community Church of Columbus, Memorial Baptist, Garden City Church of Christ, The Living Room and First Christian churches. Last year, some residents dealing with physical and other challenges wept when volunteers, including teens, finished projects.
Judy Kiesow of St. Peter’s Lutheran is coordinating the project.
