Places to escape the heat

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Salvation Army, 2525 Illinois Ave., will be open today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. as a cooling center for residents to escape the heat..

City officials remind residents that The Commons is another place to enjoy a cool location. Hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday though Thursday,  7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
