Columbus was not selected for the Way to Wellville Challenge, in which five communities compete over a five-year period for the most improvement in five areas of health and wellness.
The contest began with 41 cities, each with a population of 100,000 or less, and Columbus was among the final 10.
The Health Initiative Coordinating Council made a visit to Columbus Aug. 4 to evaluate the city for the competition.
The selected cities will receive resources through the council including ties to possible healthcare-related partners and donors.
