Police: Man threatened woman with knife

Follow The Republic:

Police arrested a Columbus man Friday afternoon after he allegedly beat his girlfriend while she held her infant daughter in her arms.

Zachary Perry, 21, 580 Pence St., was being held Monday at Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary felony charges of domestic battery with a child younger than 16 present, intimidation with a deadly weapon and criminal confinement with a deadly weapon. He also faces misdemeanor counts of interfering with the reporting of a crime and invasion of privacy.

About 2 p.m. Friday, the victim of the incident arrived at the Columbus Police Department, reporting her boyfriend went into a rage, knocking a TV off a display case and breaking glass “before turning his anger toward her,” Columbus Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Matt Harris said.

Perry then reportedly attacked the woman and daughter with a paring knife.

CPD officers located Perry later Friday and took him into custody.
