A Columbus man suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle while driving his motorcycle in Franklin.
David Prather, 66, Columbus, suffered a fracture or dislocation to his lower leg after he was flung from his motorcycle Monday. The crash took place Monday afternoon at U.S. 31 and Main Street.
Ray Raufeisen, 83, Franklin, turned in front of Prather’s motorcycle and struck it, according to a police report.
Witnesses told police that Raufeisen was in a turn lane and had a red light and turned left in front of oncoming traffic.
Raufeisen told police he thought he had a green light, the report said. The southbound lights had turned green, but his turn lane light remained red, another driver told police.
Raufeisen nearly hit the back of a car and struck the motorcycle, witnesses told police.
Prather was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was reported in serious but stable condition on Wednesday.
No one else was injured in the accident.
