Free curbside recycling could be coming to Columbus next year.
Mayor Kristen Brown's proposed 2015 budget includes a $30,000 allocation for a free recycling program.
The funds would be used to pay for disposal and other costs related to the program.
The budget also includes about $175,000 to cover hourly wages and benefits for two new full-time employees to operate the recycling truck.
Private partners, including Cummins Inc., have agreed to pick up the substantial capital cost for a new recycling truck and to provide up to 10,000 96-gallon toters free to local residents, Brown said.
