Follow The Republic:

FRANKLIN — A Columbus woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 in Johnson County at about 7 p.m. Thursday.

Indiana State Police identified the woman as 21-year-old Karianne Bjordal.

Police said the accident happened north of the Edinburgh exit in the northbound lanes and involved a semi and a car.

Aldo Perez, 51, Loxahatchee, Florida, was driving the semi-tractor and box trailer northbound on Interstate 65 in the right lane, police said. Bjordal was also driving northbound in a 1994 BMW and ran into the rear of the box trailer, police said.

There was no evidence that the BMW had slowed down and there were no skid marks, police said. Perez was not injured.
