Finally there was an email from a distant place — Antarctica.
The note was from Ellen Butler, a 1978 Columbus North grad who was featured in a column back in February about a chance meeting involving her and 1998 Columbus East grad Zach Anderson.
Antarctica is not densely populated, even at the McMurdo Station where scientific studies are conducted by a hardy bunch of folks. The irony in the story was that two former Columbus residents were stationed there at the same time.
The irony increased in Ellen’s note. She returned to the McMurdo Station last month and found that Zach had also come back. Their latest reunion was briefer than the first.
She was only passing through the McMurdo Station on her way to the South Pole, where she will be spending the rest of the study season.
Don't settle for a preview.
