The commissioners approved a $9,500 contract with MicroVote General Corp. for maintaining voting machines this year. Although the county does not have an election this year, the contract for the voting machines requires the county to pay a maintenance fee, Commissioners President Carl Lienhoop said.
“It is paid on an annual basis regardless of the election cycle,” Lienhoop said. “We pay maintenance on machines, even though they take a vacation this year.”
The money is paid out of the funds for the County Election Board.
County offices will be closed Monday in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The commissioners will next meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
