Commissioners appoint Shedd to hospital's board of trustees

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Bartholomew County Commissioners appointed Dr. Rick Shedd to a four-year term on the Columbus Regional Hospital Board of Trustees.

Shedd replaces Dr. George Brueggemann, who retired from the board in December after 16 years.

Shedd is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, and is a surgeon with Southern Indiana Surgery. He is Columbus Regional Hospital’s past chief of staff, serving as chief of staff from 2009 to 2011. He also is a longtime member of the CRH Medical Executive Committee, and has worked closely with hospital leadership to plan long-term strategies and goals.

The board provides overall policy setting for CRH and oversight for the quality of care and financial well-being of the organization.

The commissioners reappointed Tracy Souza to another four-year term. John Nash was elected by board members as the board chair. Current board members include Shedd, Tom Lentz, Nash, A.H. “Hutch” Schumaker, Don Michaels and Souza.
