Follow The Republic:

A new health care clinic partnership is expanding to a Walgreens in Columbus.

Community Health Network and Walgreens announced that seven Healthcare Clinic locations will now offer their collaborative services at select central Indiana clinics including the Columbus location at 2400 Beam Road.

The collaboration is an effort to create more coordinated health services for new and existing patients of both Walgreens Take Care Health Systems and the Community Health System.

Other clinics locations with the new collaborative system are in Indianapolis, Beech Grove, Mooresville, New Castle, Avon and West Lafayette. The additional central Indiana sites will bring the total number of clinics in the

partnership to 14, Community Health Network Director of Public and Media Relation Lynda de Widt said.

The Columbus Walgreens clinic opened in December 2011 and has two exam rooms. The clinics offer immediate treatment for minor illnesses and injuries.

The partnership will also help Community Health Network patients manage the treatment of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and asthma at Walgreens locations where the partnership exists.

Community Health Network has more than 200 sites throughout central Indiana including physician, specialty and acute care hospitals, surgery centers, home care services, MedChecks, behavioral health and employee health services.

Community Health Network was founded in 1952 and is headquartered in Indianapolis.
