Follow The Republic:

Five people were arrested at an Edinburgh fishing site after conservation officers said they exposed themselves and touched officers.

The five men were arrested Tuesday on misdemeanor charges public indecency, public nudity and battery.

Conservation officers had received complaints about men engaging in sexual acts in the woods or approaching people to solicit sex at the Driftwood Public Fishing Area on U.S. 31 near Edinburgh, conservation officer Angela Goldman said. Officers went to the park and were approached by men who attempted to engage in sexual acts, Goldman said.

Martin D. Dobbs, 62, Edinburgh, and Ronnie W. Jones, 64, Franklin, were each arrested on charges of battery, public indecency and public nudity.

John I. Kimbler, 64, Indianapolis, Matthew L. Nichols, 42, Greenwood, and Barry J. Hearin, 63, Franklin, were each arrested on a charge of public indecency.

Dobbs and Nichols were taken to the Johnson County jail. Dobbs was released on $3,000 bond, and Nichols was released on $1,000 bond.

Jones, Kimbler and Hearin were taken to the Bartholomew County jail, and all were released on $5,000 bonds.

All five men also were banned from Department of Natural Resources properties for one year, according to a news release.
