Councilman to consider reinstating park director pay

Follow The Republic:

Columbus city councilmen could reinstate the park director's salary in the city's salary ordinance Tuesday even though the city's Park and Recreation Board hasn't officially asked councilmen to do so.

City Council President Dascal Bunch said he plans to make a motion to place the $79,471 that was moved to the marketing coordinator position Jan. 21 back to the director's pay.

Bunch said with former parks director Ben Wagner leaving the parks department Friday, and the appointment of three new parks board members Friday by Mayor Kristen Brown, it's time for the council to move on.

"We feel now that this has gone along for a long time," he said. "We still don’t have everything straightened out but they’re going to get their money back."
