COLUMBUS, ind. — Bartholomew County Commissioners have approved a settlement and mutual release of claims with Earthlink Business. The company was responsible for wrong listings for the county offices in telephone books.
"When the White Pages came out this year, Bartholomew County's listings were not correct and as we had submitted," said Jim Hartsook, the county's director of information technology. "We go through that process every year, and this was probably the worst they have ever done."
Hartsook said the company included 12 to 14 numbers that the county does not own and did not include the county's actual phone numbers. He said the county negotiated with the company to get it to pay for a newspaper advertisement with correct numbers, but that process has taken too long.
