After Columbus City Council members publicly pressured Bartholomew County to adopt a stricter smoking ban, county leaders have respectfully declined.
Commissioners President Larry Kleinhenz said government should not be the bully pulpit to do something that every business owner can do for themselves. Other commissioners said that if they followed the city's lead, they wondered what health advocates would want to ban next.
