A semitrailer crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 65, north of Columbus, injured two people and closed one northbound lane for several hours.
The northbound truck lost the front driver’s side tire at 12:16 p.m., causing it to travel off the right side of the road and strike trees and a fence, according to Indiana State Police reports.
The driver, Stevie Mack, 53, and a passenger, Lakisha Todd, 34, both of Louisville, Ky., were taken to Johnson County Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The right, northbound lane was closed at the Taylorsville exit for more than six hours.
Columbus and German Township Volunteer firefighters, Bartholomew County deputies, state troopers, the Indiana Department of Transportation and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management assisted.
