COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County officials are considering the creation of a countywide redevelopment commission to spur business growth outside of Columbus.
A redevelopment commission would allow the county to target development efforts in areas such as Taylorsville or Hope through the use of tax increment financing districts, eminent domain and other tools. But those tools are already controversial for several county leaders.
County Commissioners outlined the proposal to the County Council at the council's Monday night work session.
