NORTH VERNON — What began as a pancake breakfast for a small group of pilots has blossomed into one of the fastest growing annual Jennings County events.
The 16th annual Airport Awareness Day is Saturday at the North Vernon Municipal Airport. Despite hot and dry conditions, the 2012 event attracted more than 1,500 spectators who saw more than 110 aircraft, event spokesman Corey Harper said.
The daylong festivities allow area residents to see firsthand how the airport impacts their lives, said Ryan Curry, the airport manager.
