Dealing with Alzheimer’s focus of series of meetings

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter will host “Know the 10 Signs” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at The Commons, 300 Washington St.

“Know the 10 Signs” is an introductory program that gives participants an understanding of the difference between age-related memory loss and Alzheimer’s and what to do if they or someone they know has signs of the disease.

There will be a new program, “Communication & Behaviors,” from noon to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St.

This program will explore how communication with a person with Alzheimer’s changes with disease progression and will give strategies for more effective communication. The program will include strategies to address difficult behaviors

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter will host “The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at Columbus Regional Hospital, 2400 17th St.

The program also features video clips of doctors, patients and loved ones who are caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease.

There are no fees to attend these programs, but registration is requested by contacting the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900.
