Decatur County man sentenced for dealing in meth

Follow The Republic:

A Decatur County man was sentenced Thursday in Bartholomew Circuit Court to 19 years in prison for dealing in methamphetamine. One year of the sentence was suspended.

It was the ninth conviction for John W. Hayes, 45, of 824 Carver St., Greensburg, according to Bartholomew Circuit Court Judge Stephen Heimann.  Six of those convictions were on felony charges, Heimann noted on Hayes' sentencing report.

In a plea agreement approved March 17, three drug-related charges against Hayes were dropped in exchange for a guilty plea to dealing in methamphetamine as a Class B felony.
