Firefighters and board members of Southwest Bartholomew Volunteer Fire Department met Dec. 3 at the station near Ogilville to receive a grant check for $2,260 from FM Global Insurance Company to assist with fire prevention activities in the community and to help educate the community in fire prevention and safety.
Southwest Fire Chief Brad Lovins said the funds will be used to purchase materials for distribution to elementary school students in Ohio and Jackson Townships in Bartholomew County.
Glen Olberding of presented the check. Through its Fire Prevention Grant Program, FM Global awards grants to fire departments that best demonstrate a need for funding where dollars can have the most demonstrable impact on preventing fire or mitigating the damage it can quickly cause.
