Driver fatigue is being blamed for a two-car crash in Decatur County that produced no injuries but heavily damaged both vehicles.
The accident occurred at 8 a.m. Wednesday on Indiana 3 north of Road 650N, according to the Decatur County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators say John Turner, 54, of New Castle was northbound on Indiana 3 when his pick-up truck drifted into the southbound lane and sideswiped an oncoming pick-up truck driven by 60-year-old Michael Prentice of Batesville.
The collision sent both trucks off the road; both men were wearing seat belts and were not injured in the crash.
The collision ripped the front tire off of Turner's truck and snapped its rear axle.
Indiana 3 was restricted to one lane as emergency crews cleared the crash site.
The sheriff's department reported that Turner fell asleep at the wheel, causing him to drift into oncoming traffic and that driving while fatigued can be just as dangerous as driving while intoxicated.
