East student taken into custody at school

A 17-year-old Columbus East High School student was arrested Friday after a school resource officer saw the student smoking what appeared to be marijuana in a vehicle.

At about 9:22 a.m., Officer Julie Quesenbery was patrolling the Columbus East High School parking lot and observed the student.

After the student was arrested, officers searched the vehicle and found alcohol, narcotics, a switchblade knife and pellet guns.
