For just over a quarter of a century, the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic has been providing Columbus residents with exceptional performances far beyond that which would normally be expected from an orchestra in a community the size of this city.
That high standard of performance was repeated earlier this month during an exceptional concert in which the orchestra not only excelled but was given an additional boost from three young performers who have made successful careers in the world of entertainment.
For the local audience, the impact of the “Live from New York” presentation was heightened by the participation of former Columbus residents Marja and Chasten Harmon and Cam Collins.
The Harmon sisters have both appeared in on- and off-Broadway productions and Collins is an acknowledged saxophonist who has performed in a number of major venues.
That the three performers would take the time from their busy schedules to make themselves available for this memorable event is significant by itself. That they would return to their hometown to perform before a local audience is icing on the cake for their audience.
