Education advocate, Galle, dies after short illness

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Dave Galle, a local community education advocate and middle school basketball coach, died Tuesday at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was 47 years old.

Galle served as executive director of the Community Education Coalition. He was a former board member of both the United Way and the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce. He was also a volunteer basketball coach and active member at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

Galle died of an auto-immune blood disorder, his wife Jamie said. He was hospitalized for 11 days.

He's survived by his wife and three children, Luke, 18, Megan ,16, and Alex,14.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Myers-Reed Chapel.
