Jennings Sunday: Enrollment event planned for new kindergartners

A roundup for students entering kindergarten this fall will take place in April at several grade schools throughout Jennings County.

Students must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 to enroll in kindergarten. An immunization record and an original birth certificate must be provided during the enrollment, according to Jennings County Schools spokeswoman Jeanie Koelmel.

Parents, who must enroll their child in the school area where they live, will receive free items that can be used to help their child prepare for their first full year in school.

The following are the dates, times and locations for kindergarten roundup:

  • Hayden Elementary: 9 to 11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. April 3, 55 S. County Road 685W, Hayden.
  • Scipio Elementary: 9 to 11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. April 4, 6320 State Road 7, Scipio.
  • St. Mary’s School: 9 to 11 a.m. April 5, 209 Washington St., North Vernon.
  • North Vernon Elementary: 9 to 11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. April 8 and 9, 810 W. Walnut St., North Vernon.
  • Graham Creek Elementary: 9 to 11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. April 10, 7910 S. County Road 90W, Commiskey.
  • Sand Creek Elementary:
    • 9 to 11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. April 11, 450 W. County Road 500N, North Vernon.
  • Brush Creek Elementary: 9 to 11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. April 16, 4275 U.S. 50, North Vernon.

Parents who are unable to make their child’s scheduled roundup may attend one of the sessions at the other schools.
