HOPE — The entire town of Hope is without power after equipment failed at a substation west of town.
Chip Orben, community relations officer for Duke Energy, said the failure happened for an unknown reason at 10:48 a.m. today, knocking out electricity service to 940 Duke customers.
He said work crews hope to have power restored by about 2 p.m.
