COLUMBUS, Ind. — The normal testing of Bartholomew County tornado sirens Friday afternoon will be accompanied by extra tests in western Columbus, according to city officials.
The monthly tornado siren testing is conducted at about noon on the first Friday of the month. However, additional siren tests will be performed in the Oakbrook neighborhood north of Goeller Boulevard and east of Tipton Lakes Boulevard.
The sirens could sound repeatedly depending on whether any performance or maintenance issues are found. An alert about the additional testing will be sent through the emergency notification system to residents in the area who have signed up to receive alerts.
The tests will be canceled if there is a chance of severe weather Friday.
