Dave Ramsey had made $1 million by the time he was 26. But he quickly lost it all.
Ramsey’s riches-to-rags tale is one of the inspirations behind the money guru’s Financial Peace University.
That’s a weekly DVD class showing people the basics of controlling finances through what he calls biblical principles. The nine-week course will be offered at two locations in Columbus soon.
Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th St. The classes will begin at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 11. Information and registration: Shelli Carothers, 372-9923.
First Christian Church, 531 5th St. The classes will begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 7. Information and registration: Mark Farney, 379-4491.
Since its inception in 1994, Financial Peace University has helped more than 1.5 million families positively change their financial future. Through common-sense principles and small-group accountability, the class gives people the tools they need to change their behavior and succeed financially organizers say. On average, families who complete the course pay off $5,300 and save $2,700 in the first 90 days. Following the class, nearly 94 percent of those families budget regularly.
