COLUMBUS, Ind. — A fire that erupted this morning in downtown Columbus building that houses a first-floor business and second-floor rental housing was confined mostly to one apartment, according to Lt. Matt Myers, public information officer for the Columbus Fire Department.
Investigators said the preliminary cause of the 8 a.m. fire at 911 Washington Street, where Beads de Colores is located, was an electrical short above the second-floor ceiling, Myers said. No injuries were reported. Firefighters estimate damage at $25,000, Myers added.
