Fire destroys mobile home

Follow The Republic:

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A fire has destroyed a mobile home in Candlelight Village.

Columbus Fire Department was dispatched at 4:31 a.m. today to 2871 Lamplight Drive, a home owned by 32-year-old Caramaria Baez, said Capt. Mike Wilson, department spokesman.

The home was fully engulfed by fire when the first firefighters arrived, with flames shooting out all the windows, Wilson said. Firefighters were unable to make an interior attack, but extinguished the fire in about 25 minutes, he added.

Neighbors told firefighters that nobody was home, Wilson said.
