COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus firefighters rescued two toddlers from the roof of a house in the 1200 block of Franklin Street this afternoon.

The father of the children told firefighters that he had put them down for a nap and thought they were sleeping. However, they crawled through an open window onto the roof, Columbus Fire Department spokesman Mike Wilson said.

Firefighters responded after receiving a call at 1:03 p.m. and after arriving used ladders to get the children down. Neither were injured, Wilson said.
