COLUMBUS, Ind. — Mayor Kristen Brown has announced the first Columbus Mayor’s Motorcycle Ride at 11 a.m. Aug. 25.

The Mayor’s Ride is a fundraiser to benefit the Columbus Firefighters’ Cheer Fund, an organization which provides toys for local children during the Christmas season.

Brown, who rides a Ducati Monster 750, will lead the ride which begins at Columbus City Hall. Registration is 9 to 11 a.m.

The route will wind through downtown Columbus, and head south through surrounding counties, with stops along the way.

After the ride, Columbus Firefighters and Columbus Police Officers are hosting a block party at City Hall from 3 to 6 p.m. for all the riders and the public. Festivities include food, music, special activities for children and door prizes.

The event also will include “CPD and Me," which is an opportunity for citizens, specifically kids, to have the opportunity to connect with Columbus Police Officers.

Both the Columbus Fire and Police Departments will have department vehicles, staff, bike patrols and canine units on site, and Columbus Animal Care will have pets available for adoption.
