COLUMBUS, Ind. — U.S. health officials say the flu season is finally here — the slowest start in nearly 25 years.
Medical personnel here say that’s most likely a payoff from more vaccinations than usual and a vaccine that is a good match for this season’s particular flu strains.
Dr. Brian Niedbalski, Bartholomew County health officer and a physician at Doctors Park Family Medicine, said he confirmed his first flu case at the practice Monday afternoon.
“Usually, we start seeing some cases by late December,” Niedbalski said. “And now, here we are in late February, and we’re hardly seeing anything.”
