Follow The Republic:

HOPE — A Columbus man was flown to an Indianapolis hospital Monday afternoon, one of four people injured in a two-vehicle accident near Hope.

Tyler Robertson, 30, suffered back injuries during the 1:24 p.m.crash on State Road 9 near North Sunland Road, according to Chief Deputy Maj. Todd Noblitt of the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department.

Robertson pulled out onto State Road 9 from Sunland Road, and into the path of a southbound vehicle, driven by Bernice Tweedy, 83, of Knightstown, Noblitt said. The impact caused Robertson's vehicle to smash head-on into a guardrail near Clifty Creek, Noblitt said.

Robertson's two children, Kingston Robertson, 4, and Aliyah Robertson, 9, were taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital after complaining of pain. Tweedy was also transported to Columbus Regional Hospital.
