Warm your heart as the temperature drops by lending a helping hand. Here are some some opportunities for you to lend a hand, if you have:
Five minutes
Make a monetary donation of $10 or more to the American Red Cross. Donations may be made online at redcross.org or call the local chapter at 379-9551.
Up to two hours
The Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center is seeking volunteers to assist with their annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 22. Shifts of 90 minutes and two hours are available. Duties include preparation and setup, cooking, packaging deliveries, delivering meals, serving and cleanup.

Two hours or more
Bell ringers are needed for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign beginning Nov. 12. The organization asks volunteers — either individuals or groups — to offer at least two hours of their time. Volunteers may choose their locations, which are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

90 minutes weekly
Turning Point Domestic Violence Services is in need of child-care volunteers for morning and afternoon shifts. The weekly commitment involves supervising infants and children, ages newborn to 18 years. Common activities include reading to the children and participating in arts and crafts.
