Freedom Refuge Ministries at Crossing

Follow The Republic:

Columbus’ nondenominational Freedom Refuge Ministries has moved back to the Roviar building at 12th and Washington streets to again share space with The Crossing, also a nondenominational fellowship.

To accommodate the shared space, The Crossing, led by Hywel Thomas, has moved its worship time to 9:45 a.m. Sundays. Freedom Refuge Ministries, led by Pastor Steve Allman, now meets at 12:15 p.m.

Allman thanked Pastor Rafael Gonzalez and the congregation at Columbus’ Iglesia de Dios Torre Fuerte on National Road on the north side of Columbus for their love and support while sharing the facility there. Over the past several years, The Crossing has shared space with several congregations, including those getting a stronger financial footing and membership base before finding their own building.

Thomas has said several times publicly that churches should more often be willing to work in the same space for the sake of Christian unity and as a way of being good stewards of buildings often used only a few times per week by some congregations.
