Gaddis earns coach of year honor

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bob Gaddis, who led Columbus East to the Class 4A state football championship, has been named the Dave Land Coach of the Year in conjunction with the Indiana Mr. Football and Position Awards.

Gaddis led the Olympians to a perfect 15-0 record, culminating with a 28-27 win over Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger in the Class 4A state finals. He is 135-29 in 13 years at East and 253-129 in 34 years overall.

The state championship was Gaddis' first as a coach.
