A garage sale to benefit Blessings in a Backpack will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at East Columbus United Methodist Church.
Katie Schmidt, who attends Columbus East High School, is putting on the event as part of her senior project.
Blessings in a Backpack is a national program that helps meet the nutritional needs of children and families through the school year.
The church is at 2439 Indiana Ave.
