HOPE, Ind. — A gas leak Thursday afternoon in Hope prompted the evacuation of about eight businesses on the west side of the town's square.
Hope Police Chief Randy Bailey said a gas line on West Drive was leaking but that it did not appear to be ruptured. The leak was contained to a quarter of a city block and the gas company was responding Thursday afternoon to repair the leak, he said.
The businesses along West Drive were evacuated as a precaution, Bailey said.
