fHOPE — A gas leak that closed State Road 9 between County Road 500N and 600N for about seven hours Thursday was secured by about 9:15 p.m.
Hope Town Marshal Randy Bailey said the leak happened in a fairly empty stretch of State Road 9 and no homes had to be evacuated.
He said businesses in the vicinity of Leonard’s Tire Shop were evacuated as a precaution, but it affected only a handful of people.
Bailey said Vectren workers were able to repair the leak without having to shut down the gas line.
