Gorski could get 40-year sentence under plea agreement

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Thomas W. Gorski — charged last summer in connection with the death of his girlfriend's 19-month-old son — faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to child neglect and attempted drug dealing.

The surprise change of events late Thursday at a hastily called court hearing came less than three weeks before Gorski was scheduled to go on trial Feb. 18 in Bartholomew County Circuit Court in connection with the death of toddler Evan Jack McCue on Nov. 25, 2012.

The little boy was found with head injuries and not breathing in the rear of a mobile home that Gorski shared with the boy's single mother, 22-year-old Rachel McCue, in Candlelight Village trailer park.
