Grandmother arrested in Florida over custody issue

Follow The Republic:

A North Vernon grandmother was arrested in Florida on a warrant regarding three children in her custody who were reported missing by the Indiana Department of Child Services, police said.

Detectives from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the case involving children ages 6, 17 months and 5 months, according to a Friday media release.

Child Services had contacted the Jennings Sheriff’s Department after removing three other children from the home, police said.

Lisa McIntosh 48, of 320 Hickory Way, North Vernon, was going to be served with an emergency custody order for the removal of the children from her residence, police said. Before the order could be obtained, McIntosh fled the state with the three younger children, police said.

McIntosh was arrested June 28 in Dade City, Florida, where the children were taken into protective custody by the Florida Department of Child Services, police said.

The arrest warrant for McIntosh was issued by the Jennings Circuit Court for interfering with child custody, a Class C felony.

McIntosh is being held in Florida until transportation is arranged to return her to Indiana to face charges, police said.
