Three individuals — two internal and one external — have been identified to fill the assistant principal positions at Southside Elementary School, Central Middle School and L.C. Schmitt Elementary School.
The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. board will vote tonight on recommendations to hire Cathy Jackson, Cory Irwin and Kaity Day for the positions, respectively.
The position at Southside opened up when the current assistant principal, Amy Wetherald, was named principal of Mt. Healthy Elementary School.
Cathy Jackson, current leader of the iGrad program at Columbus North High School, Northside Middle School and Hauser Jr.-Sr. High School will take over next year.
She earned her master’s degree from Ball State University and started her teaching career in Franklin Community School Corp., where she taught for 13 years. She arrived at BCSC in 1999.
Cory Irwin will take over for Jay Payne at Central Middle School as Payne transfers to L. Frances Smith Elementary School.
Irwin earned his master’s degree from University of Notre Dame and found his first teaching job at St. John Catholic School in Pensacola, Florida, in 2006. In 2008, he moved to Richmond where he currently teaches English and serves on the School Leadership Team at Richmond High School.
Kaity Day, who earned a master’s degree from Ball State University, will return to Schmitt Elementary, where she began her teaching career in 2008. She taught kindergarten at Rockcreek Elementary School for three years and then transferred to Richards for the 2012-13 school year to teach sixth grade.
